Ain't Misbehavin' To Replace I Do!, I Do!

Ain't Misbehavin' To Replace I Do!, I Do!

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have to replace I Do!, I Do! with Ain't Misbehavin', the Fats Waller musical show, in our 2013-2014 main series schedule.

This rollicking, swinging, finger-snapping, revue includes music from the 1930s written by Waller and is still considered one of Broadway's best. The inimitable Thomas "Fats" Waller rose to international fame during the Golden Age of the Cotton Club and that jumpin' new beat, Swing. The show evokes the delightful humor and infectious energy of this American original as a versatile cast struts, strums and sings the songs he made famous in a career that ranged from uptown clubs to downtown Tin Pan Alley to Hollywood and concert stages in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

You'll hear songs such as "Honeysuckle Rose," "The Joint Is Jumpin'," "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter," "Two Sleepy People," "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," "It's A Sin To Tell A Lie" and many more. The show won the Tony Award for Best Musical.

Our performers include Kevin Claiborne, Toschia Moffett, Royce Montgomery, Dayna Richardson and Toni Ringgold,

Serving as Guest Director and Musical Director is Brenna Sage, who comes to us from New York City. She has taught at Hunter College in New York and the US Performing Arts Camp in Amherst, MA. She has worked as Music Director for the New York Musical Theatre Festival, the New York International Theatre Festival and the Hunt’s Point Alliance for Children.

Performances will follow the same schedule as I Do!, I Do! -- Evening performances (8 p.m.) on April 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 and matinee performances (2:30 p.m.) on April 6 and 13. Season members may begin making reservations and purchasing additional tickets on Tuesday, March 25, with sales to the general public beginning on Tuesday, April 1.
