Auditions for "The Dining Room" on Feb. 24 & 26

Auditions for "The Dining Room" on Feb. 24 & 26

Auditions for The Dining Room by A.R. Gurney will take place on Sunday and Tuesday, February 24 and 26, 2013 at the theatre beginning at 7 p.m. A variety of roles is available for adult men and women at several age levels. Actors will be asked to read from the script. (Please note: The date for the 2nd night of auditions has been changed to Tuesday. It was originally scheduled for Monday night.)

Performances are April 12-14 and 18-21. Specific information about the rehearsal schedule will be addressed during the audition process. Actors wishing to check out a script in advance may do so with a refundable $10 cash only deposit through the Box Office.

The production will be directed by Joe Reynolds, a UT graduate who received his master’s degree in acting from the Yale School of Drama.

“I am thrilled to be directing The Dining Room,” said Reynolds. “It’s a play where actors get to show their range. Each actor will be playing multiple roles — some as many as nine! So now’s your chance, actors! Come to the auditions!”

Reynolds makes his Temple Civic Theatre debut after directing West Side Story this past fall at Vive Les Arts Theatre in Killeen. He recently moved to Temple from Los Angeles and is a theatre teacher at Travis Science Academy.

For the past 10 years, Joe owned a performance space in Hollywood called M Bar that presented stand-up comedy, cabaret, theatre and music. Some of the hundreds of shows and performers at M Bar included Get Mortified! The Thrilling Adventure Hour, Un-Cabaret, Comedy Death-Ray, Whitney Cummings, Zach Galifianakis, Margaret Cho, Chelsea Handler, Julia Sweeney, Kevin Nealon, Amanda Seyfried, Katey Sagal, BJ Novak and Patton Oswalt.

Joe graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and received his master’s degree in acting from the Yale School of Drama. He has worked at Yale Repertory Theatre, The MUNY (Municipal Theatre Association of St. Louis), Dallas Summer Musicals, Utah Shakespeare Festival and many small theatres in Los Angeles and New York City.
