This is a special Youth Theatre production and is not a part of TCT season memberships.
Beth Bradley (Jaina Wrex) helps narrate the story of the Herdmans, a family of rotten children, who lie, steal, swear, fight, light things on fire, and are generally feared in the community. The play is based on the popular children's book by Barbara Robinson.
Performances are Friday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m., with matinees on Saturday and Sunday, December 10 and 11, at 2:30 p.m. Reserved seat tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children and students. Tickets are now available online. The box office, staffed by the live person, will open Tuesday, November 29, at 9:30 a.m.
The Herdmans (Nathan Smith, Madison White, Devon Cabrera, Dylon Cabrera, Dominic Cabrera and Jaidyn Henry) go to church for the first time after being told that the church offers snacks. When they get wind of the annual church Christmas pageant, they bully their way into the main roles and generally wreak havoc.
None of the Herdmans had ever heard the Christmas story before. Joseph, Mary, the baby Jesus — it's all news to them. So they're convinced that the Wise Men should bring pizza and that the Angel of the Lord is straight out of a comic book. Everyone worries that this year's pageant will be horrible (just like the Herdmans), but they are sure to make it the most unusual anyone has seen and, just possibly, the best one ever.
Beth's parents (Lily Johnson and Thomas Painter) are helping with the pageant, as well as her younger brother (Jay Hollimon). Other children at church include Olivia Smith, Lilly Dale, Elias Kline, Zoey Dawson, Miriam Keller, Austin Moore, Lexi Dillon, Sam Orlowski, Claire Little, Eden Johnson and Haileigh Dodd. The Reverend Hopkins is played by Cody Little.
Church Ladies include Sarah Menn, Brianna Boswell, Grace Baker, Sydney Orlowski, Skyler Gordon and Gabby Garcia. The Opening Trio includes Atyana Click, Lexi Dillon and Claire Little. Baby Angels include Kaydance Artman, Luke Dillon, Austen Dodd, Melody Hennig, Eden Johnson, Joel Johnson, Joy Kellar and Sam Orlowski. Firefighters include Skyler Gordon, Mallory Jarrell and Abenezer Johnson.
Shepherds and Choir Members include Amber Boswell, Atyana Click, Zoey Dawson, Lexi Dillon, Haileigh Dodd, Skyler Gordon, Mallory Jarrell, Abenezer Johnson, Miriam Kellar, Claire Little, Austin Moore and Pierce Parker.
The production staff includes Betsi Chamlee, director; Grace Smith, stage manager; Dustin Ozment, technical director; Kris Glorioso, assistant to the director; and Jesse Wyman, lighting designer. Crew members include Alex Clardy and Marissa Hunt.
