Our First 2016-17 Main Series Show October 7–16

Our First 2016-17 Main Series Show October 7–16

The first main-series show in our 2016-17 50th Anniversary Season is The Fantasticks. Evening performances (8 p.m.) are October 7, 8, 14 and 15, with a special 7 p.m. time on Thursday, October 13. Sunday matinees (2:30 p.m.) are October 9 and 16. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students or children.

The show, with music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones, was the first musical ever presented by the theatre. The last TCT production of the show was in November 1993. Songs include "Try to Remember" (the kind of September when life was slow and oh, so mellow.)

The story concerns two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud. The fathers hire traveling actors to stage a mock abduction, so that Matt can heroically seem to save Luisa, ending the supposed feud.

When the children discover the deception, they reject the arranged love match and separate. Each then gains disillusioning experiences of the real world, seen in parallel fantasy sequences. They return to each other bruised but enlightened, and they renew their vows with more maturity.

The cast includes Michael Morris (El Gallo), Marissa Hunt (Luisa), Konnor Widmann (Matt), Jeffrey Ellis (Hucklebee), Buzz Rahm (Bellomy), Dennis Williams (Henry), Dan Becker (Mortimer), and Kris Glorioso (The Mute).

The production team includes Priscilla Santana (Director), Brian Tanaka (Musical Director), Sue Corman (Stage Manager), Dustin Ozment (Technical Director), Jesse Wyman (Lighting Designer), Sue Morrisey (Costume Chair), Tanya McMillan (Hair & Make-Up Chair), and Leon Perkins (Properties Chair).

Tickets are available online. Box office hours are Tuesday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and one hour before each performance.
